What does P0112 mean?

The control module detected a condition described as “Intake-air temperature sensor – signal low”. The code identifies the affected area, but it does not by itself prove which component has failed. The code describes the detected condition, not a guaranteed failed part. A reliable diagnosis also considers related codes, freeze-frame data, live values and the actual symptoms.

02

Possible causes

  • Faulty or contaminated sensor
  • Open circuit, short circuit or connector corrosion
  • Missing reference voltage or ground
  • Mechanical influence on the sensor signal
03

Common symptoms

  • Implausible display or warning lamp
  • Limp mode or substitute-value operation
  • Difficult starting, power loss or control problems
  • Additional faults in dependent systems
04

Sensible next checks

  • Compare the value with the vehicle cold and warm
  • Inspect connector pins and wiring for tension, moisture and corrosion
  • Measure supply and signal voltage
  • Cross-check against another sensor or an external measurement

Why does it return after clearing?

Clearing the code only removes the stored entry. If the underlying condition remains, the control module will set the code again after the next relevant monitor cycle. Save the data first, diagnose the cause, repair it and only then clear the code.
